Zilla (ジラ) is the American Godzilla that appeared in the Godzilla (1998). An iguana or a Komodo Dragon became mutated through French nuclear testing in the South Pacific, causing it to grow in size. It later attacked a Japanese ship, and was dubbed ''Gojira'' by the crew, and ''Godzilla'' by the US media. After travelling to New York City, the lizard hatched several babies, though only one managed to survive by hatching late. Godzilla was attacked and presumed dead in New York City, due to military intervention. An animated series was produced that continued the story of Godzilla's hatchling, who lead a role reminiscent to the original Japanese Godzilla. A human team of resarchers followed Godzilla, who fought various monsters around the world. Godzilla is mentioned in the prologue of ''Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack'', and renamed ''Zilla'' in ''Godzilla: Final Wars''. Zilla attacks Sydney, Australia, and is later defeated by the real Godzilla. He is often referred to by fans as GINO, an acronym for "Godzilla In Name Only." Other names include ''American Godzilla'', ''Tri-Star Godzilla'', or ''Godzilla 1998''. just thought i would point this out but im kinda not really familiar with wika so sorry if this is nt the place to do it but im pretty sure the godzilla in the 98 movie actually does have a breath weapon that she used first against some humvees chasing her and again against one of the attack helicopters that were also chasing her.
