I am a Linux system administrator. I am specially interested by India, Mohandas_Gandhi and non-violence. And I mainly contribute to the [http://fr.wikipedia.org French Wikipedia]. And here is my web site : http://www.forget-me.net/ and http://www.non-violence.org/. I'm glad you're interested in non-violence related topics; I talked one of my friends into starting non-violent resistance, but he hasn't had a lot of time to work on it. If you have any questions, just consult Wikipedia:Help and the Wikipedia:FAQs. If you're still stuck, ask a questionat the Wikipedia:Village pump. Have fun! -- User:Stephen Gilbert 21:13 Jan 20, 2003 (UTC) ==Simple English== Hi, I noticed you have contributed to the [http://simple.wikipedia.com Simple English Wikipedia] in the past. I am trying to revive it a bit as it hasn't been edited very much lately, so this is just a reminder that it's still there and you are very welcome to come and help! Yours views on what to call the "village pump" are also requested. See [http://simple.wikipedia.com/wiki.cgi?HomePage/Talk]. Thanks. User:Angela 11:57, 20 Aug 2003 (UTC) ---- ==Press Release== I see you contributed to the creation of the press release. Might you be willing to follow these Wikipedia:Press releases/How to send a press release, and send off the Wikipedia:Press releases/February 2004? -- user:zanimum ---- ==Nonviolence and Wikipedia== Hi Yann, Nice to see someone else doing work on nonviolence on Wikipedia (mainly in French, I suspect). http://www.non-nonviolence.org looks fantastic, even through the Google translator ;-) Would you like to have a look at List of nonviolent leaders and thinkers and see who I've left out? I'd really like someone with some knowledge of nonviolence to check additions for relevance, as lists seem to attract some pretty weird edits. Would also be great if a French speaker did some work on the english version of Lanza del Vasto, as there is not much information about him in English, and I want to know more! User:Dirtbiscuit ---- ==Wikipedia:Featured pictures== Yann, there is an Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates for adding images to Wikipedia:Featured pictures and Wikipedia:Featured pictures visible. I have taken the liberty to move your recent addition to candidates page. - User:Gaz 12:24, 28 Mar 2004 (UTC) == Aloe picture == Salut! Your picture at aloe is very impressive, but I think it's the century plant, about which the "aloe" article says, "The plant called American aloe, ''Agave americana'', belongs to a different family, Agavaceae." At least it looks exactly like the agaves that grow where I live, in New Mexico, and it doesn't look like the other aloes on that page. So maybe it belongs at the century plant article--or if not, maybe the caption needs to be changed. What do you think? --User:JerryFriedman 23:54, 28 Jul 2004 (UTC) == Aloe picture == Merci pour la réponse. J'essayerai trouver un botaniste qui puisse nous dire si le photo montre un ''Aloe'' ou un ''Agave''. If that makes any sense. --User:JerryFriedman 19:37, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC) :Thanks again. I finally got around to moving it to Agave. —User:JerryFriedman 18:48, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC) == Untaggued Images == Yann, I have put a list of the images without cp tags at User:Yann/Untaggued Images. Have a lot of fun with them, there is only 48655 such ones (at 22/08/2004). :-- User:Looxix 23:53, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC) == WikiSource == Thanks for your comments: "Well, I think it would be best to improve the software, rather that to set up a separate Wikisource for each language. But that is technically much more difficult." :If the software is improved enough so that each language can work in its own environment - what is the big difference between that and separate language domains? It really comes down to the same thing. :In any case, even if the software could be improved in ways specific to WikiSource, I think it would be dangerous (and unnecessary) to have it grow in ways that are not compatible with the other wikimedia projects. "I think that the aim of actual Wikisource should be broadened to images and sounds, beside texts, like the project m:Wikimedia_Commons." :I agree completely about this. I think some people have added at least a small amount of these things. The setup certainly allows for it. User:Dovi 11:46, Aug 31, 2004 (UTC) Hi Yann. Thanks for your comment at the Wikisource proposal. Is there any place it is possible to read about the work being done on multilingual interface? Or someone specific who can be contacted for information? Thanks! User:Dovi 03:55, Sep 27, 2004 (UTC) == Gujarati language == The interwiki links you added seem invalid, there is no article at hi and gu about the Gujaarati language. --User:Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason User:Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason/ User talk:Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason/ [ Bjarmason] User:Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason/ 17:21, 2004 Sep 12 (UTC) :Yes, corrected now. Thanks. User:Yann 17:23, 12 Sep 2004 (UTC) == फ़्रांसीसी vs फ़्राँसीसी == So like I said on the Talk:Hindi page, I'm sure that फ़्रांसीसी is correct. I double checked to make sure before I made the edit, even. But it occured to me that, according to the rules of Devanagari as I learned them here in America, the word that you are typing would be pronounced differently than the word that I am typing. That is, फ़्राँसीसी would be pronounced frããsiisii (with a nasalized vowel), whereas फ़्रांसीसी would be pronounced fraansiisii (with a nasal consonant conjunct). And the then the reason that you find the pronunciation of the word "french" with the nasalized vowel in your french-hindi dictionary is because that pronunciation is closer to the french word ''français'' which has a nasalized vowel, and in my english dictionary, I find the pronunciation with the nasal consonant. This could be a reasonable explanation of why I find one spelling and you find another. By the way, how does your french-hindi dictionary spell the words panjabii? or english? with a nasalized vowel or with the nasal consonant? Mine spells both of those with the nasal consonant = nasal conjunct = bindu with no candra. -User:Lethe | User talk:Lethe == "Untagged images" page == Greetings!
