Wtshymanski

I've used the Wikipedia often - this week I've decided to write some contributions. It seems that filling in articles for red links is a good place to start. --User:Wtshymanski 02:42, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC) ==your edits to fuse==
overall good but i dispute your 30A and larger for bolting in at least here in the uk even 100A fuses usually just have round end caps. also im not sure what you are thinging of when you say plug fuse is what we in the uk mean by plug fuse (you talk about them as part of an installation when we say plug fuse we mean a fuse designed for fitting in a plug) NOT a plug in fuse (which are common in car electrics). Photos would be usefull for clarification i have placed pictures showing what we brits mean by a plug fuse. User:Plugwash 11:14, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC) :Thanks for the comments, I will try to find some examples of North American plug fuse pictures ( I can probably take one myself..I've a few around the house). These are a screw-in fuse in a socket similar to a lampholder (same threads). I'll also check the point at which fuses become bolt-in - I've seen bolt-in 10 and 15 A fuses, but I agree that they are possibly not universal at 30 A. --User:Wtshymanski 14:19, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC) Cheers User:Plugwash 15:09, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC) btw what is overfusing? User:Plugwash 15:13, 15 Dec 2004 (UTC) ==watts== You added "750 W -- the amount of sunshine falling on a square metre of the Earth's surface on a clear day" which is interesting, to the orders of magnitude article. But WHERE is it 750 watts? (ie. clearly not at the poles....)--User:Deglr6328 08:58, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC) ==Manitoba generating stations== You are free use any of my images of course! To do as you wish with. User:Earl Andrew 04:49, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC) == Nelson River Bipole == very nice (and hard to get) pictures User:Duk 20:47, 20 Feb 2005 (UTC) : Thank you - it's the hard-to-get pictures that make an encyclopedia more interesting. --User:Wtshymanski 21:44, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC) ::BTW, I love the picture too. More! User:Linas 02:34, 9 May 2005 (UTC) == Converting gallons per hour to Kg per second == You suggested deletion on this page's talk page. I thought you'd like to know that I've added it to Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion. I hope your eye is recovering well! User:FreplySpang 00:21, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC) : I'm glad you added it to VfD. The eye is coming along - recovery is slow but there's improvement each week. --User:Wtshymanski 02:09, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC) ==Cabora Bassa== Apollo is situated south east of Pretoria. You can see a map of the exact location at [http://www.eskom.co.za/eia/Enviro%20assessments/Apollo-Phoebus-Vulcan/Map10COMBINFO.pdf]. Cheers User:Tiles 03:59, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC) ==Fried bologna== Hi, I moved your speedy deletion candidate to VfD. Go Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Fried bologna if you want to vote on it. User:Scott Burley-- User:Scott Burley ''e''">User talk:Scott Burley 05:58, Apr 3, 2005 (UTC) == Morse Code == A bug is the same thing as an iambic paddle, right? --User:Ssd 05:30, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC) == 1942 steel picture == Make the caption right if you have steelmaking experience. I reverted a numbered newbie to agree with the description on the image page as uploaded by user:Darwinek. Cheers, User:Meggar 00:03, 2005 Apr 24 (UTC) ==Power transmission== Sorry about the confusion between power transmission and distribution. I was finding articles on extension cords and light bulbs in :Category:Electricity and transmission lines and particle accelerators in :Category:Electrical engineering and so I went on a categorization whirlwind. Hopefully I've done more good than damage. User:Linas 23:49, 8 May 2005 (UTC) No problem. I think finding "pliers" in category physics or something like that is what pushed me over the edge ...:) User:Linas 01:44, 9 May 2005 (UTC) Re typing: no, no software involved, just a fast typist. I'd be a lot faster too, except that I recently "upgraded" my browser, so now its slow as mollasses, and I am constantly cursing the computer. Dang'ed "technology advances" keeps Intel rolling in the dough. User:Linas 02:24, 9 May 2005 (UTC) ==Lübeck-Herrenwyk and Lübeck-Siems== I ran across the above during the edits. One of the above two are marked for deletion, and both are in rather poor state, with one copying from the other. Maybe you'd be interested in cleaning these up? User:Linas 05:03, 9 May 2005 (UTC) : Done. Redirected to Baltic Cable since most of the material was duplicated there anyway, and I don't think every detail of every EHV transmission line is appropriate for a general purpose encyclopedia. The original contributor is annonymous, else I'd discuss it with him/her. --User:Wtshymanski 17:24, 11 May 2005 (UTC) ==Keep up the good work== I was adding metric units to Fossil fuel power plant and found that my edits conflicted with yours. I discovered that you were making almost some of the same edits as me e.g. cm -> mm in engineering, lpm -> m³/s, inHg -> Pa, barrels -> m³. I note that you converted 90,000 barrels to 18,000 barrels. I changed that to 14,000 barrels on the assumption that it was an oil barrel of 42 US gallons. The variation in definitions of barrel is one of the hazards of non-metric units that makes me more convinced that metric units should be used. So I suspended my edits and started again with your version of the article. I made one or two further edits that I hope you will approve of, including mho -> siemen. If not, then feel free to modify them. I am delighted that others are making pro-SI edits. Keep up the good work. User:Bobblewik  User talk:Bobblewik 14:13, 22 May 2005 (UTC) == Charles LeGeyt Fortescue == Hi. I noticed you linked "Charles LeGeyt Fortescue" to Symmetrical components in the Queen's article. I think it would probably be a better idea to remove the biographical information on Fortescue from the symmetrical components article, and instead create an article on Fortescue himself. User:Neilc 05:05, 26 May 2005 (UTC) :Sure, I just made that comment as an avenue for possible improvement, but clearly you're a step ahead of me :) What you plan sounds great. Bill in Winnipeg My interests include electrical engineering, history of techonolgy, amateur radio and a few others. I'm no scholar, but I hope I can improve the content of a few articles. And I find I really enjoy editing! ==The Vision Thing== : I've been logging into Wikipedia since November 2004 but the last few weeks I've not done anything since I'm recovering from a detached retina - even now my sight in my right eye is poor and this is the first time I've had enough blurry vision in that eye to try to log on. My ophthalmologist has seen me this week and hasn't given me any indications that I won't make a good recovery, but it's only been 15 days since the scleral buckle and cryoprobe operation. A scary thing, to lose one's sight...and a modern day miracle to get it back again. Wish me luck. If the sight keeps inmproving at this rate, in a couple of weeks I may be able to drive again. --User:Wtshymanski 21:50, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC) : My vision is much better now...at least I can use the computer without much eye strain. --User:Wtshymanski 02:37, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC) :: I'd say being able to spend 2 or 3 hours on Wikipedia a day indicates that my vision has a good degree of usability. And next week I find out if I can make the grade for driving. Cross fingers. --User:Wtshymanski 16:25, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC) ::: Hooray! My optometrist tells me that with a new prescription for my glasses, I'll have better than the legal minimum for driving. I'm going back to work on the 25th of April, so I won't be Wiki-ing nearly as much; but it sure has helped keep me from boredom the last month. --User:Wtshymanski 06:12, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC) ::: Back at work for 2 weeks. Seeing is believing. --User:Wtshymanski 16:43, 7 May 2005 (UTC) ==Those Toys== Oh, how I wish those little toy robots had been named "TranZformers" or something of that ilk. I'm tracking down all the references to the electrical item, but there must be 400,000 articles about the toy robots, or the cartoon series, or the movie, or the comic books...grrr. --User:Wtshymanski 06:12, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC) ==To Do List== * Diagram of an electric arc furnace * Diagram of a computer bus * Look at the article on programmable logic controllers and see if I can touch it up * Look at the rest of the submarine cable articles and the other HVDC articles and make sure the English is clear. The problem arises either when the proponent of the Wikifiction (who may not be intending to mislead, but may be misinformed, over-enthusiastic, or biassed) either cannot be refuted by other editors due to the esoteric nature of the article, or else when the proponent is indefatigable at reverting or otherwise maintaining his cherished, though odd and singular, beliefs. A Wikifiction may only be supported by references to Web sites which may also be maintained by terribly sincere people with unusual views. See also and contrast Wikifraud, linkspam, sillypedia. ==Milestone - 1000== Counting only edits in the "articles" spaces, and including minor edits, just now (June 2,2005 12:34 CDT)I've made my 1000th edit. It was to the Stirling engine article.
