== Is Bermuda in the Caribbean? == User:Cantus has reverted my change to Template:West Indies in which I removed Bermuda on the grounds it isn't in the West Indies, with the message ''(See World book 2002)''. I'm not entirely sure how to do as you advise, as the World book 2002 has now been superceded on the CIA web site by the 2004 edition. Certainly looking Bermuda up on the 2004 edition reveals no reference at all to the words 'west indies' on the web page. Even if it did, I would have to say that the CIA had got it wildly wrong on this one. Just take a look at a decent world atlas; Bermuda is about the same distance from the Canary Islands (off the coast of north Africa) as it is to the nearest Caribbean island (which is a toss up between the Bahamas and Cuba at about 1000 miles). The nearest continental landfall is somewhere in North Carolina (at about 500 miles), and the supply ships normally run from New York. The climate is North Atlantic (you wouldn't really want to take a holiday in Bermuda in winter) and from personal experience the locals do not think of themselves as Caribbean. Please reconsider.
