VoivodshipA Voivodship (also voivodeship, Romanian language: ''Voievodat'', Polish language: ''Województwo'', Serbian language: ''Vojvodstvo'' or ''Vojvodina'') was a feudal state in medieval Romania, Hungary, Poland, Russia and Serbia (see Vojvodina), ruled by a Voivod (''voivode''). The Voivod was initially the military commander next to the ruler. The term voivodship is still used for the 16 administrative regions in Poland (Voivodships of Poland) and for the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina in Serbia. ===List of Voivodships=== [[Image:Poland-voivodships.jpg|thumb|right|300 px|Poland voivodships since 1999]] * Romania ** Wallachia ** Moldavia ** Transylvania * Serbia ** Vojvodina * Poland ** Lower Silesian Voivodship ** Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodship ** Lodz Voivodship ** Lublin Voivodship ** Lubusz Voivodship ** Lesser Poland Voivodship ** Masovian Voivodship ** Opole Voivodship ** Subcarpathian Voivodship ** Podlasie Voivodship ** Pomeranian Voivodship ** Silesian Voivodship ** Swietokrzyskie Voivodship ** Warmian-Masurian Voivodship ** Greater Poland Voivodship ** West Pomeranian Voivodship Subnational entities Voivodships of Poland Vojvodina Voivodship:I started Wikipedia:WikiProject Polish Voivodships some time ago to settle the naming conventions for Polish Voivodships, powiats/counties and gmina/communes.
