Valdez oil terminal

The Valdez Oil Terminal is an petroleum Seaport in Valdez, Alaska, at the southern end of the Alaska Pipeline. It was acquired by British Petroleum in 1969, from the Chugach, for $1. Some natives contend that this was an crime transfer. The terminal was the point of departure for the Exxon Valdez just prior to the Exxon Valdez oil spill. There are 18 holding tanks at the terminal, and an average of three or four oil tankers depart from the terminal each day. Since the pipeline became operational in 1977, more than 15,000 tankers of oil have left the terminal. Valdez-Cordova Census Area, Alaska
