USS MaineFour ships of the United States Navy have borne the name USS ''Maine'', named for Maine. *The first USS Maine (ACR-1), was a second-class armored battleship whose destruction by an explosion precipitated the Spanish-American War. The exact cause of the explosion is still debated. *The second USS Maine (BB-10) was the lead ship of Maine class battleship of battleships. She participated in the voyage of the Great White Fleet. *The third ship of this name was to be USS Maine (BB-69), a Montana class battleship, but she was cancelled before her keel was laid down. *The fourth USS Maine (SSBN-741) authorized (the third commissioned), was an Ohio class submarine Trident ballistic missile nuclear submarine. USS MaineI've read somewhere that government published images are in the public domain. But I don't know that for sure. If someone would like to follow up on that, it seems ripe for a bunch of USS Maine #1 images to be scooped up. ~ender - 2003-04-02 23:41 MST See other meanings of words starting from letter: UUA | UB | UC | UD | UE | UF | UG | UH | UI | UJ | UK | UL | UM | UN | UO | UP | UR | US | UT | UW | UX | UY | UZ |Words begining with USS_Maine: USS_Maine USS_Maine USS_Maine(ACR-1) USS_Maine_(ACR-1) USS_Maine_(ACR-1) USS_Maine_(BB-10) USS_Maine_(BB-69) USS_Maine_(SSBN-741) USS_Maine_(SSBN_741) |
