TupiTupi is the name of one of the main people of Brazilian Native American who first inhabited the Amazon_Rainforest region, then spreading southward, gradually occupying the Atlantic coast. From the sixteenth century the Tupis and the related Guaranis were enslaved or simply exterminated by Portuguese and Spain settlers--this nearly led to their complete annihilation. The remnants of these tribes are today confined to Indian reservations or acculturated to some degree into the dominant society. ==See also== *Guarani Tupi language family Tupi==merger== should be merged with Tupi languages. — User:Ish_ishwar User_talk:Ish_ishwar 11:59, 2005 May 20 (UTC) There is a Tupi language family which consists of approximately 70 languages, one of which is Tupi. The family and the individual language should have separate articles, I think. To be consistent with other articles, they should be located at Tupi languages and Tupi language, respectively. --User:Tabor 19:13, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC) See other meanings of words starting from letter: TTA | TB | TC | TD | TE | TF | TG | TH | TI | TJ | TK | TL | TŁ | TM | TN | TO | TP | TR | TS | TU | TW | TX | TY | TZ |Words begining with Tupi: Tupi Tupi Tupi-Guarani Tupi-Guaran Tupi-guarani Tup-Guaran Tup-Guaran Tupi-Guarani_languages Tupi-Guarani_languages Tup-Guaran_languages Tup-Guaran_languages Tupian Tupinamb Tupinambarana Tupinambarana_Island Tupinambis Tupinambis_teguixin Tupiniquim Tupinkin_language Tupi_(Language_Group) Tup_(Language_Group) Tupi_Antigo Tupi_Antigo_language Tupi_Laguages Tupi_language Tupi_Languages Tupi_languages Tupi_languages Tup_languages Tupi_language_family Tupi_language_family Tupi_language_group Tupi_language_group |
