Travel is the transport of people on a trip or journey. Reasons for travel include:
*Tourism—travel for recreation. This may apply to the travel itself, or the travel may just be the necessary investment to arrive at a desired location.
*Visiting friends and family
*Trade
*Commuting–going to various routine activities, such as work or meetings.
*Human migration—travel to began life somewhere else; nomadic people do this
*Pilgrimages—travel for religious reasons
The word originates from the Middle English word ''travailen'' ("to toil"), which comes from the French language word ''travailler'' ("travail").

So, I took out the external link to Wikitravel. I didn't think it was particularly useful on this stub, and I personally didn't like the appearance of low-class hit-mongering.
If this becomes a real serious article about travel, well, probably a discussion of or link to Wikitravel would have a place in it. For now, until this article takes on a real shape, a single extlink just seems kinda opportunistic. --User:EvanProdromou 16:37, 11 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, your recent additions to Vancouver qualify as spam. Please don't persist in replacing those links. — User:Saxifrage | User talk:Saxifrage 20:47, May 20, 2005 (UTC)
