SubsidiaryA subsidiary is a company controlled by another usually a large corporation. When that control or ownership is not shared, it is termed a ''wholly-owned subsidiary''. Subsidiaries are distinct legal entities for purposes of tax and other forms of regulation. A large holding company such as Berkshire Hathaway, Time Warner, Citigroup will usually organize all of their holdings into subsidiaries, sometimes with multiple levels of containment ([http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/subs/sublinks.html]). Subsidiary is different from Division/Business Unit which is part of the main company. ==See also== *Corporation *Holding company *Division (organisation) *Zaibatsu *Keiretsu *chaebol legal entities See other meanings of words starting from letter: SSB | SC | SD | SE | SF | SG | SH | SI | SJ | SK | SL | SM | SN | SO | SP | SR | SS | ST | SU | SW | SX | SY | SZ |Words begining with Subsidiary: Subsidiary Subsidiary_Communications_Authority Subsidiary_companies |
