Speakers' Corner

''For the Canada television series, see Speakers' Corner (television series)''. ---- '''Speakers' Corner''' is an area in the north-east corner of Hyde Park, London, City of Westminster, London, close to Marble Arch and close to the place where the Tyburn gallows stood. It is a traditional site of public speeches and debate, especially on Sunday mornings, replacing an earlier site further into the park known as ''Reformer's Tree''. Although many of its regular speakers are distinctly non-mainstream, it has had such noted people as Karl Marx, Lenin, George Orwell and William Morris speak, and from time to time is used by candidates for the mainstream parties in election campaigns. A prime example of the concept of free speech, any person may turn up unannounced and talk on almost any subject they wish, although they are likely to be heckler by regulars holding opposing views. The nearest tube station is Marble Arch tube station. ==Media references== * Episode 624 of the comedy TV series ''Married... with Children'' had the Bundy family paying a visit to the Speakers' Corner. Regarding my last change. I have no idea how to change the title of this article... TA :I think Speaker's Corner should redirect to Speakers' Corner rather than vice versa. Am I wrong? "Speaker's Corner" would suggest there was only one speaker, wouldn't it? For those who hate apostrophes altogether, Speakers Corner should be another redirect. But would we also need lower case c's (Speakers' corner etc.)? User:KF 22:43, Nov 9, 2004 (UTC) The proper name is Speakers' Corner and such should be the title of the article... The question is: how to change it? TA (10-10-2004) :Hm ... I just tried the "move" function, not expecting it to work, but, surprisingly, it did. I have no idea why: I had always thought it wasn't possible to move a page to an already existing title. I hope that by doing so I haven't caused any trouble. User:KF 19:40, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)
