Salah al-Din al-BitarSalah al-Din al-Bitar (''b.'' 1911), a Sunni Muslim, co-founder of the Ba'th Party in Syria. During his student days in Paris in the early 1930s, the two worked together to formulate a doctrine that combined aspects of nationalism and socialism.
