Although it looks externally very similar to the AK-47 has a completely different internal operation. The Sa 58 is designed for the destruction of lightly armored mobile enemy equipment and manpower. It is Gas-actuated and capable of firing in single shots or in bursts. Ninety-three countries across the globe have adopted this assault rifle. ==History== The Samopal 58 or Sa 58 is based on a rifle designed by Emanuel Holek to compete in trials held by the Czech government for a Kalashnikov type rifle in 1953. It was adapted for the 7.62_x_39_mm_M43 (7.62x39 Soviet) cartridge by Josef Cermak and entered production in 1958. ==Versions== * Samopal vzor 58 P (pěchotní): standard fixed stock version. * Samopal vzor 58 V (výsadkový): folding stock version for armoured and airborne units. * Samopal vzor 58 Pi: with a mounting for a night vision sights, silencer, and a bipod stand. * Samopal vzor 70 [correct designation unconfirmed]: experimental 5.45x39 calibre version developed in 1976 to 1978 according to ''Rifles of the World''. * CZ 858 MKII Tactical: Semiautomatic only, folding stock, for sale to civilians.
