Richard Ingrams (born 1937) was the second editor of British satirical magazine-cum-newspaper, ''Private Eye'', taking over from Christopher Booker. Along with several of his Shrewsbury School friends, including Willie Rushton, he formed the magazine in the early sixties as part of the Satire Boom which also saw the formation of The Establishment (club) nightclub, run by Peter Cook. After handing the editorship of ''Private Eye'' to Ian Hislop in the late Eighties, Ingrams moved on to create and edit ''The Oldie'', a monthly humorous lifestyle and issues magazine aimed at the older generation. He has appeared on the radio panel quiz, ''The News Quiz'', and contributes a regular column to The Observer. Ingrams has three children: a son, Fred, 40, who is an artist, second son, Arthur, who was disabled and died in childhood and a daughter, Margaret Ford, who died of a heroin overdose in Brighton in early 2004. 1937 births British journalists Former students of University College, Oxford Magazine editors
