Pre-ColumbianThe term Pre-Columbian is used to refer to the cultures of the New World in the era before significant European influence. While technically referring to the era before Christopher Columbus, in practice the term usually includes indigenous cultures as they continued to develop until they were conquered or significantly influenced by Europeans, even if this happened decades or even centuries after Columbus first landed in 1492 CE. The term ''Pre-Columbian'' is used especially often in discussions of the great indigenous civilizations of the New World, such as those of Mesoamerica (e.g. the Aztec and Maya civilization) and the Andes (Tahuantinsuyu, Moche, etc). ==See also== * Pre-Inca cultures in Peru * Pre-Columbian transatlantic contacts * Pre-Columbian population * Columbian Exchange Historical eras Pre-Columbian cultures See other meanings of words starting from letter: PPA | PB | PC | PD | PE | PF | PG | PH | PI | PJ | PK | PL | PM | PN | PO | PR | PS | PT | PU | PW | PX | PY | PZ |Words begining with Pre-Columbian: Pre-Columbian Pre-Columbian-stub Pre-columbian-stub Pre-Columbian_America Pre-Columbian_cultures Pre-Columbian_Maya_dance Pre-Columbian_Maya_dance Pre-Columbian_population Pre-columbian_stubs Pre-Columbian_trans-Atlantic_contact Pre-Columbian_trans-Atlantic_contact Pre-Columbian_trans-oceanic_contact Pre-Columbian_trans-oceanic_contact Pre-Columbian_trans-oceanic_contact Pre-Columbian_transatlantic_contacts Pre-Columbian_transatlantic_contacts Pre-columbian_transatlantic_contacts Pre-columbian_transatlantic_contacts |
