Płock (pronounce: [[Media:Plock.ogg|['pwɔʦk]]]) is a city in central Poland, on Vistula river, with 131,011 inhabitants. Situated in the Masovian Voivodship (since 1999), previously capital of the Plock Voivodship (1975-1998). == History == Its 12th century cathedral contains the tombs of Ladislaus Herman of Poland (died 1102) and Boleslaus III of Poland (died 1138) - Rulers of Poland. Some historians say that Plock was the capital city of Poland during their reign (1080-1138). It was also a seat of several of the Dukes of Masovia and one of the capitals of that state. == Religion: Mariavites == This city is the main seat of the Mariavite Church bishops. Their most important church was built here in the beginning of 20th century - it is called ''Temple of Mercy and Charity''. == Economy == The main industry is oil refining. While researching Plock city, I understand it is also known (or was known) as Plotzk. Can you advise if this is correct.
