Penny Marshall (October 15, 1942) is an United States actress, producer and director. She was born Carole Penelope Masciarelli in The Bronx, New York City. She is the sister of writer, producer and director Garry Marshall. Penny played the role of the wise-cracking brewery worker Laverne DeFazio in the popular television situation comedy ''Laverne and Shirley'' from (1976 in television-1983 in film). Marshall was married to actor and director Rob Reiner (1971-1979).
