Paddy Power (politician):''This article is about Paddy Power the Irish politician. For the bookmaking company of the same name, see Paddy Power.'' Patrick (Paddy) Power is a former Irish Fianna Fáil TD (parliament) and Minister of the Charles Haughey era. He served as Irish_Minister_for_Communications%2C_Marine_%26_Natural_Resources from 1979 to June 1981 and Irish Minister for Defence in the Government of March to December 1982. He was briefly Irish_Minister_for_Enterprise%2C_Trade_%26_Employment in October 1982 following the resignation of Desmond O'Malley to challenge for the leadership of the party. Paddy Power retired from politics in 1989. His son, Seán Power, regained his Dáil seat. He is currently a Minister of State (Ireland). A second son, J.J.
