Nuclear Decommissioning Authority

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is a public body of the United Kingdom formed by the Energy Act, 2004. It came into existence on 1 April 2005. Its purpose is to oversee and manage the decommissioning and clean-up of the UK’s civil nuclear legacy. The work itself will be carried out by contractors. On its creation, the NDA took over ownership of Direct Rail Services, the rail freight operating company set up by British Nuclear Fuels Limited in 1995. ==See also== * BNFL * UKAEA * Direct Rail Services ==External links== * [http://www.nda.gov.uk NDA website] * [http://www.dti.gov.uk/nuclearcleanup/nda.htm DTI site about the NDA] * [http://www.psiru.org/reports/2004-12-E-NDA.doc "The UK Nuclear Decommissioning Authority"], Steve Thomas (2004), ''Public Services International Research Unit'', University of Greenwich Departments of the United Kingdom Government
