NOTE: I've curtailed my editing recently (since mid-2004) for several reasons: *Utter burnout (12,000+ edits will do that to you) *Wikipedia's growth means this place isn't the same tight community it once was *Wikipedia's growth means there's more vandalism than ever before *The [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=George+W.+Bush&action=history&limit=100&offset=0 back-and-forth] [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=John+Kerry&action=history&limit=100&offset=0 edit wars] on all things political, especially leading up to the 2004 U.S. presidential election (''see'' [http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/10/arts/10wiki.html?ex=1257742800&en=cc30e2e9087b7775&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland "Mudslinging Weasels Into Online History"] in the N.Y. Greetings! I am a lifelong resident of California and am currently attending the University of California, Berkeley, majoring in electrical engineering and computer science.
I stumbled upon and became a member of Wikipedia in January 2003 when the 'pedia made [http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/01/22/0258226&mode=nested&threshold=3 front page news] on Slashdot. I was swept up in the ease with which anyone could contribute to articles. While editing this encyclopedia can be frustrating at times, it is a very worthwhile endeavor that someday (hopefully in my lifetime!) will be an invaluable repository of human knowledge. While the 'pedia is still in its infancy and has a ''lot'' of maturing to do, I see every day's worth of edits like a mathematical function approaching a limit (mathematics). Every day, this project gets better, but it will always have room to improve, and as time goes to infinity, this encyclopedia will approach perfection. While EE and CS are my primary areas of study, I humbly consider myself not to be an expert in these fields, and therefore I refrain from making any drastic changes to articles pertaining to those subjects. Some observations:
• A lesson in wording future events: [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=2004&diff=2069448&oldid=2069405 remember when this was true?] → [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=2004&diff=2075766&oldid=2074806 better edit]

• [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Special:Whatlinkshere&target=Sharm_el-Sheikh Transliteration mania!]
Interests include: *list of astronomical topics *Baseball, Major League Baseball *Economics, Government, History, and Politics *U.S. presidential election, President of the United States, Vice President of the United States, Supreme Court of the United States *''The Matrix'', ''The Simpsons'' and related pages *Convincing myself that I'm not a Wikipedia:Wikipediholic *Keeping Wikipedia as tidy, copyedited, and NPOV as possible I am also a fan of ''information'' and trivia in general and thus the Wikipedia is a natural home for me. * [http://wikimedia.org/stats/en.wikipedia.org/url_.html Current month's hits] * [http://wikimedia.org/stats/en.wikipedia.org/usage_.html Current month's webalizer] * [http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikien-l/-/date.html Autoupdating link to the mailing list]

Welcome to my talk page. Please [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Minesweeper&action=edit§ion=new post a new comment] at the bottom of this page. —User:Minesweeper Archive: [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=User_talk:Minesweeper&oldid=2759664 2003-01-22 → 2004-03-14] ---- ==Your header here== == D'oh! == Thanks for the tip about red-blue. :) User:Jengod 06:46, Mar 17, 2004 (UTC) == "Click" == I've noticed you have modified a bunch of the planet pages to include the phrase "Click for larger image" under the photos. While this is fine for those of us with graphical browsers, not everyone uses a mouse to view the Internet, nor does everyone even see images. I think a better solution would be to have a link that says "Larger version" or "Large photo." Links should make sense when extracted from the text and viewed alone; links that just say "click here" are hardware-biased and not helpful if you don't see the surrounding text or images. (Some blind people, for example, use programs that can read the links on a page. When a link says just "click here," they have no way of knowing what's behind that link.) --User:Bkell 20:58, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC) :Actually, my suggestion is twofold. First, the word "click" should be changed to something less mouse-centric. Second, the text itself should be made a link, so that even folks who don't have image-viewing capabilities can see the details about the image if they want them. --User:Bkell 21:54, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC) :Addendum: Actually, does Wikipedia do something with images automatically so people without image capabilities can see the image details? I don't actually know how it works. --User:Bkell 21:56, 19 Mar 2004 (UTC) == Salt Lake 2002 photo == Hey, thanks for contributing the beautiful photo of the Olympic flame stand at the 2002 Winter Olympics! As a stop-gap, I've removed the indentation. In the longer term, the page should be migrated to the new table format. You should file a bug on this (hey, I'm sleepy!), although a fix may not be possible. -- User:Finlay McWalter | User talk:Finlay McWalter 01:31, 30 May 2004 (UTC) == Elliott Abrams == Hi, I just noticed your edits to Elliott Abrams. You converted many instances of US to U.S. I have done the opposite many times. I searched the help pages for some guidance and only came up with this: Wikipedia:Naming conventions (acronyms). It is no big deal, only I hate the idea of working at crosspurposes. -- User:Viajero 10:25, 6 Jun 2004 (UTC) == Game 6 == The game 6 article referred to a single, specific game, not the 1986 World Series as a whole. You should revert the page to the way it was before, and if you like, create a link from the "1986 World Series" page to the "Game 6" page. ==thanx== Mine, Very nice reformat at perfect game. I found you from the history of the NVIDIA Corporation article and I noticed hat you study EE and CS. I am looking for worthy individuals who are interested in hardware technology, computer science and mathematics. If you are this kind of person, I would like to invite you in a non-Wikipedia project for the creation of CS and IT wikis. If you like this idea, please list your name in the User:Npc/List page. Thanks. User:Npc 12:14, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC) == Article Licensing == I've "started" the User:rambot which aims to get users to release all of their contributions to the U.S. state, county, and city articles under the CC-by-sa 1.0 and 2.0 license (at minimum) or into the public domain if they prefer. A secondary goal is to get those users to release ALL of their edits for ALL articles. I've personally chosen to Wikipedia:Multi-licensing all of the User:rambot and User:Ram-Man contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike Creative Commons License so that other projects, such as WikiTravel, can use our articles. I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all your contributions (or at ''minimum'' those on the geographic articles) so that we can keep most of the articles available under the multi-license. Many users use the template (or even for public domain) on their user page, but there are other templates for other options at Wikipedia:Template messages/User namespace#Licensing Templates. If you only prefer using the GFDL, I understand, but I thought I'd at least ask, just in case, since the number of your edits is in the top 50 most. If you do want to do it, simply just copy and paste one of the above two templates into your user page and it will allow us to track those users who have done it. For example: :Option 1 :I agree to Wikipedia:Multi-licensing all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below: : OR :Option 2 :I agree to Wikipedia:Multi-licensing all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below: : Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain (which many people do or don't like to do, see Wikipedia:Multi-licensing), you could replace with -- User:Ram-Man 16:53, Nov 24, 2004 (UTC) == South Park == Thanks for the corrections with the South Park Republican Page :-) User:Juicifer 22:06, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC) == SFO == Could you provide a link to information about needing to restore land elsewhere in the bay in order to expand, that was added in [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=San_Francisco_International_Airport&diff=1658648&oldid=1655909 this edit]? I understand you are the maker of the "fancy tables" for lists of office holders, like the one on List of Governors of California. The List of Governors of Mississippi was well-structured, it just needed conversion, so I did that. I was wondering tho, do you have a list of color codes for political parties and strange cases? I think you contributed it to Wikipedia. I would love to use the Barrister photo for a project we are doing to assist US law students (who cannot get into an ABA school) to attend an English law school and would like to use the photo to show what Barristers look like. The debate was archived under Talk:Sunset High School (Portland). The issue over this article remains contested. moreover, there still does not exist a wikipedia policy (as far as i can tell) over what to do in regards to articles about specific U.S. public school. The article in question has been re-nominated for VfD at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunset High School (Portland). My hope is that a real consensus can come out of the debate, and a real policy can take shape. Take part if you are so willing. User:Kingturtle 02:13, 12 Apr 2005 (UTC) P.S. The history of the debate can also be reviewed and discussed at [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Precedents#Are_high_schools_encyclopedic.3F_-_Yes Are high schools encyclopedic?]. == Jeb Bush == I noticed that you were one of the first to edit the Jeb Bush article a couple of years ago. There is currently a dispute over the article's neutrality, photographs and formatting. It would be great if you could give your opinion on the matter. Thanks much. --User:BaronLarf 18:34, Apr 24, 2005 (UTC) == expos/nationals debate == There is a major debate going on, and I wondered if you might want to chime in. The debate involves how to deal with franchise moves in baseball. The question is whether Montréal Expos should be its own article or if it should redirect to Washington Nationals. All other instances of franchise moves in MLB redirect the old team name to the new team name, and the history of the franchise is covered within the new team name (for MLB, NBA and NFL examples, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Votes_for_deletion/Montr%E9al_Expos see here]. Some people are confused and think the Expos and the Nats are different teams. Some people don't want to upset Canadian readers. Indeed, the Washington Nationals are not a new team - the Montreal Expos franchise has moved to Washington, and the old franchise name should redirect to the new franchise name, just like the 20+ instances of this occuring in Wikipedia. For example, Brooklyn Dodger history resides in the Los Angeles Dodgers article. New York Giants history, including the Shot Heard 'Round the World, resides in the San Francisco Giants article. If you have the time, maybe you could chime in on the conversation there, Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Montréal Expos.
