The western terminus is the junction with U.S. Highway 12 southeast of Niles, Michigan, close to the boundary between Cass County, Michigan and Berrien County, Michigan. The eastern terminus is the junction with Interstate 94 at exit 136 northwest of Jackson, Michigan. For the most part, M-60 follows the path of an old Indian Trail known as the ''Washtenaw Trail''. Such easements were ruled to be "untaxable" by the Michigan Supreme Court under property millages.
