It is the current terminus of List of Mexico City metro stations (the royal blue line). Line 2 originally terminated at Metro Tacuba (as of 14 September 1970), but on 22 August 1984 the line was extended an additional two stations, to reach the Cuatro Caminos neighbourhood, on the dividing line between the Mexican Federal District and the adjacent Mexico (state). The station logo is a large geodesic dome, depicting the nearby "Toreo" bull fighting ring. In 2003, the Mexico popular music group Café Tacuba produced an album with the title "Cuatro Caminos" in homage to this part of town.
