Meat and bone mealMeat and bone meal (MBM) is a by-product of the industrial rendering industry. It is typically about 50% protein, 35% ash, 8-12% fat, and 4-7% moisture. It is primarily used in the formulation of fodder to improve the amino acid profile of the feed. Feeding of MBM to cattle is thought to have been responsible for the spread of Bovine spongiform encephalopathy. In most parts of the world, MBM is no longer allowed in feed for ruminant animals. However, in some areas, including the US, MBM is still used to feed monogastric animals. In Europe, there is currently little that can be legally done with MBM, other than combustion for energy generation, landfill or incineration. ==External link== [http://www.darlingii.com/products/animal_protiens/bone_meal.html Description of meat & bone meal from a major rendering company] Granular materials Meat processing See other meanings of words starting from letter: MMA | MB | MC | MD | ME | MF | MG | MH | MI | MJ | MK | ML | MN | MO | MP | MR | MS | MT | MU | MW | MX | MY | MZ |Words begining with Meat_and_bone_meal: Meat_and_bone_meal |
