Unfortunately, almost no one understands what it is or how it works. I thank you for being one of those people. These image debates make me come back less and less frequently. It seems that a majority thinks we're a free speech forum first, and an encyclopedia second. User:Cool Hand Luke Luke">User talk:Cool Hand Luke 09:54, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Copyrighted text on Abu Ghraib == Hi, I've noticed you have reinsterted the inclusion template into Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse (no pictures). When this template is installed mediawiki dynamically inserts the text of the Abu Ghraib article without preserving attribution, in fact it actually provides misleading attribution. This unfortunately is in violation of the GFDL which wikipedia is licensed under, as we are required to maintain attribution. I tried getting the template to also provide a link to the correct history, but I couldn't find a way to get it to work. Even if you believe the inclusion of the history on another page is sufficent (which I disagree with, especially because of the misleading history attached to the no pictures version) then we must also consider what happens if a downstream fork of wikipedia fails to provide access to the orignal article? We really don't want to create additional copyright pitfalls for other people. You seem to know some about the inclusion template, ... is there something we can do to fix this problem?--User:Gmaxwell 17:15, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC) :You can link to the history either by cut and pasting from the link on the original page, [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Abu_Ghraib_torture_and_prisoner_abuse&action=history like so], or by using the slightly more third-party-friendly incantation Korath{| style="float:right; margin-left:0.5em; margin-bottom:0.5em;" |Wikipedia:What_is_a_troll,_either.">image:Wikistress3D 2 v3.jpg|center|thumb|214px|Korath doesn't like pictures of himself. Despite his deceptively high [http://kohl.wikimedia.org/~kate/cgi-bin/count_edits.cgi?user=Korath&dbname=enwiki edit count], he has yet to make a significant Special:Contributions/Korath to an actual article. ==Activity== Blaming this shortcoming on a lack of anything useful to say, he instead spends his time fixing typos, Wikipedia:Manual of Style, Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting, monitoring Wikipedia:Votes for deletion for advertisements and Wikipedia:Vanity page such as this one, and, rarely, Wikipedia:RC patrol Special:Recentchanges. In the past, he was active copyediting and properly formatting Current events, but has mostly given this up as a lost cause. Korath was first attracted to Wikipedia because typographical errors and poor grammar make his blood pressure soar. Misuse of the comma (punctuation) and apostrophe (mark)—in particular, confusion between ''its'' and ''it's''—especially annoys him. The ability to correct these is a great relief, and typo fixes still form the bulk of his [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AContributions&target=Korath&hideminor=0&namespace=0 main namespace edits]. However, like most people, he has a blind spot for his own spelling, and welcomes typographical corrections even to his signed comments. ==Vandalism== Korath's user page has been stealth-vandalized once [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AKorath&diff=8601128&oldid=8573233], page move vandalized once [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=&user=&page=User%3AKorath+%28bastard+administrator%29], vandalized five times [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AKorath&diff=8834142&oldid=8832890] [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AKorath&diff=10468901&oldid=10463104] [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Korath&diff=12475935&oldid=12475628] [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Korath&diff=12541147&oldid=12541009] [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Korath&diff=12830532&oldid=12829928], and blanked once [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Korath&diff=10971406&oldid=10971248]. Link [3] is far and away his favorite. ==In real life== Korath insists that he was using the pseudonym for nearly a decade before Star Trek stole it. Furthermore, he greatly prefers Babylon 5. Besides copyediting and talking about himself in the third person, Korath also enjoys his privacy. The lack of gratuitous ''u's'' in his spelling forces him to confess to being American. He only admits that he is male because singular they is an abomination; neologisms such as sie and hir are unacceptable; repetitive constructions such as ''s/he'', ''he/she'', and ''he or she'' are awkward; and most people, including himself, are too lazy to circumlocute the issue properly. Sapir-Whorf not withstanding, he maintains that the only correct pronoun for a person of unknown gender in English is ''he''. ==Temperament== Extensive non-wiki experience makes it very difficult for Korath to Wikipedia:Assume good faith. He is actively attempting to improve, though he often regrets that he cannot point people to a search through [http://fuckinggoogleit.com f***inggoogleit.com] without it being construed as a Wikipedia:No personal attacks. ==See also== */Potentially useful stuff ==External links== *m:User:Korath at Wikipedia:Meta *b:User:Korath at Wikibooks See other meanings of words starting from letter: KKA | KB | KC | KD | KE | KF | KG | KH | KI | KJ | KL | KM | KN | KO | KP | KR | KS | KT | KU | KW | KX | KY | KZ |Words begining with Korath: Korath Korath Korath/autovfd.js Korath/autovfd.js Korath/blockip.js Korath/cologneblue.js Korath/Copyrights Korath/copyvio Korath/monobook.js Korath/Potentially_useful_stuff Korath/sb Korath/sb2 Korath/Spoiler.js Korath/Spoiler_bottom Korath/Spoiler_top Korath/standard.css Korath/standard.js Korath/welcome.js |
