Kents Hill SchoolKents Hill School is a preparatory school boarding school located in Kents Hill, Maine, Maine outside the list of current and former capital cities within the United States of Augusta, Maine. Kents Hill was founded as Maine Wesleyan Seminary by Luther Sampson in 1824. Accepting girls in its very first year of operation, Kents Hill is one of the [http://www.boardingschoolreview.com/oldest_founding_date.php oldest] coeducational schools in the entire United States, and may be the oldest continuously operating co-ed school in the nation. Today, it is open to students of grades 9–12 as well as students working a post-graduation term. While the majority of the school's students board in the dormitory located on the campus, a small (and decreasing) number of "day students" from the local area also attend. == External links == * [http://www.kentshill.org/ Kents Hill School website] * [http://www.kentshill.org/history.htm History of Kents Hill School] * [http://www.lifelonglearning.com/pschools/code/idd.asp?sponsor=1&inunid=1251 Thompson Peterson in-depth description of Kents Hill School] High schools in Maine Private schools Schools established in the 1800s Kents Hill SchoolThis article was proposed for deletion December 2004.
