My own view is these things need extremely fast and effective deletion as soon as monitors spot them occuring. I wrote this sugestion in an UserTalk: Why the heck are the vanity pages tolerated for inclusion into the general Vfd que? If the behind the scenes 'monitors' would immediately tag such as nonsense. Save, then go through the Vfd tagging process themselves, or perhaps allow the the Next (another agreeing) ''monitor'' to tag it (as a check and balance kind of thing) A concurring admisistrator can then Speedy-Delete it within the current guidlines. (Lawyering, I know, but within current guidelines, unless I've missed something.) It would be nice to see this tried for a few days or weeks at least just to see if the impact on Vfd\Today goes as I predict. The current process lets these self-masturbatory puff pieces hang around for five days as 'A kind of further reward' (Psycologically) for the juvenile thrill at the minor personal cost of posting the piece. Five days for them to elbow their friends and say: (wink, wink) ''look what I got away with!'' If they instead vanished inside a half-hour, it would certainly speed the processing on the Vfd/Today page to a more managable number of far more important votes. It would also hold their satisfaction down considerably, assuming they like writing as much as MOST TEENS. Which is to say, Not! Is this proper behaviour? Thirdly, I would also like to point out that he stated that "and you've never responded". I do not understand on what ridiculous things does he mean, for I have in retrospect answered all, if not nearly every question and comment from him. I offered him what questions I did not answer, and he has no comments. Worse, look at the attitude of his talk in :Talk:Zanskar. If you notice, many a times he either tried to deviate from the mainstream discussion to another topic, even going up to the extent of threatening arbitration without even answering the question in the first place. Worse, I have seen hypocrisy in him in :Talk:Wee Kim Wee, he himself stated that ''don't use someone else's comments as a way of avoiding mine, and do me the courtesy of answering my questions. If you've decided to ignore me (and your supposed example certainly ignores what I've said, as does your failure to address my points), then say so and have done with it.'' And that is what he is. I haven't written anything/added anything at all, rather I asked the contributors to either provide proof of copyright permission or remove/reword copyrighted content, but all I got was some racial slurs which were even incorrectly placed!! As a 3rd party who jumped in and claimed to have "examined the edits in question and in my opinion they do not constitute reverts." your words stand on the page condemning my actions which are completely reasonable especially since he outright deleted my comments 7 times. I reverted once (my personal rule re page edits) and this is the first time I have been told that was too agressive. Greetings and good morning. I'm a self-professed grammar nazi and a life member of the Society for the Protection of the Apostrophe, so Wikipedia offers a great treasure trove of things to fix for this former copy editor. I'm also a former open source software developer (I worked for a couple of years on The GIMP) and a former law student. I hold two general studies degrees from Indiana University, and am currently employed as a network administrator in suburban Chicagoland, Illinois, United States. I've been an editor here since December 27, 2004 although I edited anonymously for a short time before that as well. I have been an administrator since June 15, 2005. Most of my early contributions to Wikipedia so far are of the nature of cleanup, either style or spelling. I also do Special:Deadendpages patrol. More recently I have been doing vandalism watch, cleanup, and RC patrol. I occasionally attempt to assist consensus-building on controversial articles, with less success than I would like (see, e.g. Ward Churchill). I try to avoid editing articles that I have a personal stance in, as it is hard to keep my feelings out of the discussion on such cases. I do have a wide range of knowledge on a remarkable number of topics and will bring that to bear to any article I should stumble across that needs the help. It is my fervent hope that Wikipedia will continue to grow and be a valuable tool for my daughter's education (born in 2003). My goal is to do one page a day (I am obviously behind, mainly caused by the death of my laptop). I've arbitrarily started on the P volume. And, no, I'm not just copying the articles; that would be copyright infringement. Rather, I am synthesizing the article in the print encyclopedia with what I can find from Google (or other appropriate sources) to create an original article (or at least article stub) on topics that Wikipedia isn't already covering. So far, I've added: *P.E.O. Sisterhood *Pierre van Paassen *Frank Pace *Pacoima Dam *Juan de Padilla *Curtis Hidden Page ==Other things I've done== *Fore-edge painting -- a fascinating topic I briefly researched because it showed up on the requests list on Special:Recentchanges. *Monroe County Community School Corporation -- a school district page created to help spur the creation of other school district pages in the hopes of making some headway on a school article compromise. ==Personal policies== Besides WP:TRI, I have a few personal Wikipedia policies I follow. These are my own and I don't expect anyone else to use them, although it would be nice as I think they're a good idea. ===Primary & secondary school articles=== Primary and secondary schools which have achieved national or regional fame for any significant reason (e.g. former school of famous individual, site of newsworthy event, etc.) deserve their own articles. School articles which, on their face, fail to reach this bar should be merged (with retained redirect) into community articles (e.g. village, town, city, school district, township, county, etc.). (A subarticle may be used if the community article would be made too large otherwise, titled, e.g. "Schools of Broward County, Florida" or "High schools of Louisville, Kentucky"). Those articles which are so deficient that they not only do not meet the above criterion, but for which it is impossible to determine a community to merge them with, may be deleted. ===Bands=== I hereby define a "notable musical group" as any group of performing musicians who (a) has published music reaching a significant audience (regional or larger), (b) has made a public performance before an noncaptive audience of at least 1,000 (school assembly performances do not count; neither do performances at athletic events unless televised outside the local viewing area of the performance), (c) has appeared on television (other than public access cable), (d) has won a contest or other award of a nontrivial nature, (e) is generally regarded as having pioneered or otherwise advanced a major genre of music, or (f) includes performers (or, in rare cases, composers) who are or were members of a different group meeting one or more of the foregoing criteria or who are otherwise famous (e.g. Keanu Reeves' band Dogstar). I will support deleting any article about a musical performing group where the article does not set forth how the group is notable by the above criteria. ===Section blanking=== I am likely to interpret any edit (especially from an IP) that does not have an edit summary which removes an entire section (or more) of an article as revertible. My good faith doesn't go that far, I'm afraid. If you really intend to remove an entire section of an article, ''include an edit summary''. You should be including edit summaries anyway, so this isn't really that onerous. I don't know if people do this by mistake or on purpose, but I think that large tracts of text should not be removed from Wikipedia without some sort of an explanation. Even "See talk page" is good enough for me. ===Use of admin powers=== Use talk pages. Block sparingly. Don't block without warning unless the situation really requires it. Use rollback for true vandalism only (e.g. blanking, spam, and nonsense). Don't use admin rights on articles you edit for content. Don't use admin rights against people you disagree with.
