I have put a question about your User:Jguk/admin criterion on its User talk:Jguk/admin criterion. Can you please respond? User:Sjakkalle User talk:Sjakkalle 12:54, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC) :Thanks for answering. I have also made User:Sjakkalle/Admin criterion even though it's a bit vague... User:Sjakkalle User talk:Sjakkalle 13:08, 9 Jun 2005 (UTC) == 2005 English cricket season (8-30 April) == I found your immmediate withdrawal of that article from peer review, your reasons given for it, and your comments on Mav's talk page to be odd. For one, I found Mav's comments on PR to be correct, and even if they weren't how does one comment make immediate unfair treatment? Maybe there's a larger issue going on I am unaware of, but if there is, that should be separated from this issue. This seems to be a case of making a much greater issue than there is and being way over sensitive about (all I can see as) one comment. Forgive me if the issue is resolved, but there seemed to be a disconnect between your comments and what occurred. Specifically, you asked for peer review, got it, and in response asked for mediation regarding the comments. I think you should heed the comments, discuss it where appropriate, and leave it at that. If you want peer review, list it and keep it there, and listen to those comments too. - User:Taxman User talk:Taxman 16:54, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC) == Some questions and suggestions == Q: Hi. I was watching a TV programme today &: What does "removed 4 points of his [driving] licence mean"? Sugg: I saw your image of UKCTax. # Please apply all windows updates from the microsoft site. A newer version of IE is available which corrects the bugs that you saw recently in Gangtok. My version is 6.0.2900.2180. Alternatively use Mozilla or Opera (I use that). # I saw many instant messengers open. Go to Run> and type "msconfig" (without quotes). Once open navigate to the "Startup" tab and disable all the unnecessary stuff such as yahoo, win messenger etc. Keep AVG on and a firewall on too. restart comp. It saves a lot of memory. # Why do you watch the main page?  =user:Nichalp (User Talk:Nichalp)= 19:09, Jun 9, 2005 (UTC) == Instantnood and the MTR == Hello, I found your name on the arbitration committee briefing on Instantnood. I found the evidence presented disturbing, as a very similar situation is developing over on the MTR page. Instantnood has taken it upon himself to change the formatting for all the article names without discussion, and to also change the bolded name in the articles to create redundancy. I am attempting to engage him in discussion, although after reading the evidenece presented on the ArbCom page, it may perhaps be futile. Discussion over this is taking place at Wikipedia talk:HK wikipedians' notice board#MTR naming conventions, and any support you could lend would be appreciated, as I cannot seem to find what the final verdict of the ArbCom was. Thank you! User:PZFUN 09:23, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Away - no cricket updates == Thought I'd mention it here - I'll be away for the weekend, so I'm afraid you'll have to update all the cricket articles for this round of matches. Won't be back editing until Monday probably. Cheers, User:Sam Vimes 22:16, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Australian national cricket captains == Thanks for the heads up, but I was reading it when I got your message! - User:Ianbrown 13:48, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Parthia == Honestly, are we going to play this game forever, or are you going to actual discuss the issue on the talk page one of these days? Don't make enemies where there needn't be any. User:Variable 18:38, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Why don't == you just stick to editing articles, and stay away from the Wikipedia: namespace? The importance of all the goings-on in there is often vastly over-inflated; no-one who's just working on content cares, really. The place just seems like a breeding ground for bad feelings, with little or nothing constructive coming forth. User:Dan100 23:43, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC) :Well, OK, I've now read all the RfAr etc. Soooo, why don't you just stay away from contentius issues? Just stick to what is fun? I know it's a shame to see the thing you like being harmed, but is it worth the aggro, and spoiling the good stuff? User:Dan100 00:07, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC) == Left? == Have you left because of the CE/AD debate / cricket categories? Regarding the CE-AD debate, its so trivial, I don't see why you have to get so flustered about it. I don't have any idea on what the majority ruling was as you say on your page. Take a wikibreak, enjoy the short English summer (come here to India; some of my India-related Featured Articles might help ☺); and resume after a month or so. Anyways, if you choose not to return to wikipedia, then I wish you all the best in your endeavours. Without you we may not have so many cricket articles, so please do review your choice to quit. Regards,  =user:Nichalp (User Talk:Nichalp)= 08:03, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC) : I echo what Nick said User:Tintin1107 08:25, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC) ::I'm hoping the "cricket categories" thing wasn't a major part of the decision, it certainly wasn't my intention to drive you off Wikipedia. You've done tons of good contributing here. Although I disagreed with you quite vigorously at times, I've always tried to stick to consensus - I thought that this time around there was general agreement on the Wikiproject talk page when I started moving category tags into talk. (oh, and in case you might have thought I was deliberately following you around by getting involved in the 2005 season transclusion debate, I actually stumbled across that one on my own and it reminded me to check up on the category situation). User:Bryan Derksen 16:59, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC) Yeh mate its sad you chose to leave... You did an incredible job on so many cricket articles. User:Albinomonkey (User talk:Albinomonkey) 10:26, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC) ::OMG. Please reconsider this decision. This place will be the loser for it and it does seem (to me anyway) to be over a trivial matter from which you should just take a step back from. Have a wikiholiday. Otherwise, all the best to you and thanks for your help. - User:Ianbrown 13:15, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC) ::Ouch. Really sorry to see you go, especially over something as trivial as this. Thanks for all your contributions :( User:Sam Vimes 18:50, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC) I'm also going to add my voice to those sad to see you leave from a cricket enthusiast's point of view. I'm going to stay out of the minutiae of the controversy that caused you to leave, since I don't know all the details, but from a purely WikiProject Cricket persepective, you'll be sadly missed. I hope you'll return at some point in the future. User:Loganberry | User talk:Loganberry 23:36, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC) Oh gracious me. ''Please'' don't go - we ''need'' people like you! Take some time off, watch some cricket, enjoy the weather and come back with recharged batteries. You will be missed enormously. -- User:ALoan User_talk:ALoan 10:41, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC) I echo the above statements – a good contributor should never be allowed to leave. Wiki or death? User:Violetriga User_talk:violetriga 11:46, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC) "For all sad words of tongue and pen / The saddest are these, 'It might have been.'" (John Greenleaf Whittier). Farewell, jguk, wherever life may take you. I hope you come back someday soon. Take a break. --User:NeutralityUser talk:Neutrality 06:39, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC) Jguk, I would also ask you to reconsider. I've been consistently on the opposite side from you on the CE/AD and style debates, and, yes, I think that your method of achieving your preferences wasn't the right way to go, but I have no wish to see you leave. There's no point in having discussions if everybody agrees, and more importantly, there's no way of achieving any semblance of NPOV if people that don't agree leave. User:Zocky 08:54, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC) I am deeply sorry to see the Wikipedia bullies claim another victim. User:Susvolans User talk:Susvolans 12:24, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC) :Take a well-deserved Wiki-break, and come back in a couple of months. — User:Chameleon 12:55, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC) I agree with Zocky - I think you are a valuable contributor, and I am sad to see you go. User:Guettarda 13:07, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC) : I do, so very much so, hope that you will return. A deeply valued member of the community. : User:Jdforrester User_talk:Jdforrester 21:36, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC) *My deepest sympathies. Your voice and constructiveness will be sorely missed. User:Radiant!User_talk:Radiant!>|<">meta:mergist 22:35, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC) I had not realised that you had left. I am new to WP. I am not that familiar with how WP operates. Knowing, now, what happened to you is a warning to me and to others. The lesson is that NPOV is just hypocrisy. You have my sympathy. You tried to defend WP and we can see the result. There are a group of bullies here, and bully is the appropriate word. They will have their own way, come what may. I can understand your sentiment “well, it's not worth the hassle, is it?” As for me, I will take some time off. I admire the stand you took.--User:ClemMcGann 10:54, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC) I just learned of your departure, and am deeply sad to know that Lulu et al drove you away. I hope you will find the time to return, and continue to make Wikipedia a better place. I am an ex-Wikipedian. My primary interest whilst I was on Wikipedia was the development of cricket-related articles (as can be seen from my contributions), although I also liked to dabble elsewhere. I left Wikipedia on 11 June 2005. I was involved in a dispute after one user made a policy proposal that was rejected. For a policy proposal to pass on Wikipedia it needs to gain a consensus (typically 80%+ in votes) and his proposal failed even to get a majority, so there was no question that it failed. Some users chose to implement that proposal on some pages, despite it clearly failing. I, along with some others, reverted them. They reverted back, and so on and so forth. ArbCom got involved, and it was clear that, although ArbCom is meant to discuss behaviour, instead the discussion was about content. Some members on ArbCom felt the policy proposal should have passed, and therefore decided that the users implementing it were in the right, and those enforcing the community decision were in the wrong - and as I was the main editor enforcing that decision, I was to blame for the whole affair. Well, you can decide whether it's fair or not - but I choose to spend my spare time doing things I enjoy, not things I don't enjoy. When it is clear that despite creating many good articles (the list below is far from complete), initiating the Portal:Cricket and creating five featured articles is not appreciated, but instead you get persecuted because you stand up to editors that choose to make edits that they know will be resisted because the community has just defeated there proposal.....well, it's not worth the hassle, is it? To those who I have worked with constructively, including all those on Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket, I wish you all the best and hope your bits of Wikipedia continue to improve. It's a fantastic project and a fantastic resource. I got many things done by being bold and imaginative, I encourage you to do the same. To the others, you will continue to have your bits of Wikipedia - but like everything, if you fail to listen to the majority, those collaborating with you, and more importantly, your readers will go elsewhere. There are many alternatives to Wikipedia about - Wikipedia works when we listen to our readers and we work with community consensus. If you choose just to write here for yourself you will unfortunately end up with a readership of just you.
