Home Nations is a term to refer to the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom — England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland — collectively, but as separate entities, distinct from the United Kingdom as a whole. It's meaning is quite specific (refering to all four nations of the UK collectively, but as separate entities). Like the article says, sport is where the term is mostly used (as England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland often compete separately). Therefore a football highlights programme could say that it was going to say that they would be showing highlights from all the Home Nations' matches. Of course, 'Home Nations' could easily be replaced by 'British teams' or 'UK teams' and those phrases have been prefered in recent years.
