Henry Youle HindHenry Youle Hind (1 June 1823 – 8 August 1908), was a Canada geologist and List of explorers. He was born in Nottingham, England, England, and immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Ontario in 1846. He taught chemistry and geology at University_of_Trinity_College in Toronto. Hind led an expedition to explore the Canadian prairies in 1857 and 1858. In 1857, the Red River Exploring Expedition explored the Red River of the North and Assiniboine River valleys, and in 1858, the Assiniboine and Saskatchewan Exploring Expedition explored the Assiniboine, Souris River, Qu%27Appelle River, and South Saskatchewan River valleys.
