I notice you have reintroduced the error in the article on Richard III of England which says that there are records of Hastings' trial. This is a very controversial article, and it's important to keep it NPOV. If you feel I am wrong and you have evidence that such records exist, please quote a reference and location where they can be viewed. User:Deb 11:53, 17 May 2004 (UTC) Thanks for your note. I've heard the ''claim'' before, that there are records of Hastings' trial, but all the books I've read say that there aren't. However, if they do exist, I'll be quite happy to give way. I don't know if you saw "Historyonics" the other week - that was a surprisingly even-handed interpretation of the known facts, I thought. If the Richard III talk page is short, it's probably because I gave up arguing with a certain person who was determined to have her own way; I just waited for her to leave the project, which happened more quickly than I'd hoped. However, you'll find the controversy has been shared out between several articles, including Edward IV of England, Edward V of England, Princes in the Tower, Dominic Mancini and Philippe de Commines, to name but a few! User:Deb 16:46, 17 May 2004 (UTC) Hi again. It's not your fault you took what someone else had written at face value, but I don't think these records exist. I'll have a look at that article on Morton, and see if I can help make it more even-handed. Unfortunately, the only way it can ever be "proved" is to produce the records of the trial. Otherwise, we have to assume there aren't any. User:Deb 16:47, 18 May 2004 (UTC) Kindly leave my user pages alone. User:Mintguy User talk: Mintguy 22:28, 20 May 2004 (UTC) ---- Just wondering - did you get my reply? User:Morwen 17:01, May 23, 2004 (UTC) ==1974== I'm digging up some fascinating stuff in these researches - have a look at the Administrative counties of England#1974 : Two-tier section for a start. Of note for Tyne and Wear is that (a) the Local Government Bill 1971 actually named it 'Tyneside' (lated amended for reasons I am sure you can imagine), and it was to include Easington and Seaham. Looking at a map that would have left Durham practically landlocked! User:Morwen 22:28, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC) :Didn't know about "Tyneside". The Redcliffe-Maud Commission in 1969 (?) never managed to get that far. --User:Garryq 22:38, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC) ::Apparently they didn't think it was worth a metropolitan county. They just recommended ones based on Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. ::There are some particular things I'm going to have to look up a bit more. In particular, there were 'passenger transport authorities' for the conurbations well before 1974. Apparently Greater Manchester had a South East Lancashire North East Cheshire (SELNEC) PTA. I wonder if Tyneside had a similar one. Another intesting thing is apparently there were plans for a 'South Hampshire' metropoplitan county, consisting of presumably the Southampton/Portsmouth areas. User:Morwen 22:48, 1 Jun 2004 (UTC) == Coat of Arms of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother == I was just wondering as to the copyright status of this picture. User:Burgundavia 10:19, 2 Jun 2004 (UTC) *Thanks for the info. As a technical note, you might want to convert it to png to save some download time. User:Burgundavia 05:42, 3 Jun 2004 (UTC) == civic heraldry == This is just to let you know I replied to your question here [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Marnanel/CivicHeraldry_pages]. User:Marnanel 16:14, 8 Jun 2004 (UTC) == vote == Good luck! User:Morwen - User_talk:Morwen 11:31, 10 Jun 2004 (UTC) ==Cambourne== Cambourne is definitely worthy of an article. But it shouldn't appear on the list of towns, as by any standard I can think of it isn't a town. Note that the list of towns is not just a list of places, which are usually listed on the appropriate county or borough article. I've removed Cambourne again, along with Barnt Green, which has if anything even less of a claim to the status. User:Marnanel 16:37, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC) :As a section of the Royal Household they may be {CrownCopyright}, but as Garter Principal contends "that the question of copyright is not really relevant" in an heraldic display, I prefer {fair use} in wiki's educational context. --User:Garryq 17:51, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC) ::You could probably get away with public domain. If "the question of copyright is not really relevant" this would suggest that they are uncopyrightable, or they are effectively so, as it would be impossible for their copyright holders to assert any intellectual property rights over them. — User:Trilobite User_talk:Trilobite 05:51, 24 Aug 2004 (UTC) == Mountbatten == Thank you for clarifying the ancestry secion on Louis Mountbatten- it's much more readable now. -User:Finn-Zoltan 18:59, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC) == Enormous blue square with white cross == The software says that you replaced a bunch of heraldic images with an enormous blue square with a white cross (like this one: [http://en.wikipedia.org/upload/2/22/Drapers_COA.jpg]).
