Garech BrowneGarech Browne (b 1939) is a wealthy patron of Irish arts. Garech Browne is a descentant of the Connact Oranmore and Browne family. He was the third son of the 4th Lord Oranmore and Browne. He is part of the Guinness dynasty. He has let his Irish houses to the folk-pop group Clannad. Of these properties, Woodtown Manor, near Dublin has long been a welcoming place for Irish poets, writers and musicians. Along with Paddy Moloney, he was a founder of Claddagh Records. When Garech asked Paddy Moloney to put together a group for a one-off album for the label, Paddy came up with the first line-up of The Chieftains. Garech is famed for his pony-tail and was once banned from an Irish pub session for having long hair and no socks. He is married to Princess Purna Harshad of Morvi.
