Ganado (Navajo language: ''Lókʼaahnteel'') is a census-designated place located in Apache County, Arizona, Arizona, United States. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,505. The Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site in Ganado is maintained as an example of a 19th century trading post. == Geography == Ganado is located at 35°42'9" North, 109°33'12" West (35.702571, -109.553234). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 23.2 square kilometer (8.9 square mile). 23.2 km² (8.9 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. == Demographics == As of the census of 2000, there are 1,505 people, 422 households, and 321 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 64.9/km² (168.2/mi²). There are 507 housing units at an average density of 21.9/km² (56.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 87.31% Race (U.S. census), 10.76% Race (U.S. census), 0.13% Race (U.S. census) or Race (U.S. census), 0.13% Race (U.S. census), 1.13% from race (U.S. census), and 0.53% from two or more races. 2.39% of the population are Race (U.S. census) or Race (U.S. census) of any race. There are 422 households out of which 46.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.3% are Marriage living together, 21.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% are non-families. 21.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.48 and the average family size is 4.14. In the CDP the population is spread out with 38.7% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 5.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 26 years. For every 100 females there are 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.3 males. The median income for a household in the CDP is $38,958, and the median income for a family is $43,281. Males have a median income of $36,250 versus $26,306 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $13,788. 18.3% of the population and 10.3% of families are below the poverty line.
