Ecaterina TeodoroiuEcaterina Teodoroiu (January 16 1894 - August 22 1917) was a Romanians woman who fought and died in World War I, and is regarded as a heroine. In October 1916, she joined the Romanian army to avenge the death of her two brothers. She was sent to the Moldavian front where she injured both legs. She was taken prisoner but managed to escape by killing two, or perhaps three German soldiers. In 1917, she advanced in rank as Second Lieutenant and led a 25-man platoon. In August 22 1917, she fought her last battle at Marasesti.
