it might be more helpful to talk about the root of the word dyad, which i believe is latin or greek, I've heard it said that a dyad is two units treated as one. it also has a seperate meaning in microbiology and genomics, I came here looking for that definition, what i've been able to derive from the context is that it has something to do with pairs of oligonucleotide --nick garner
