DTSDTS may stand for: * Digital Theatre System (a multichannel audio source for synchronized film sound) * Data transformation service (SQL Server database application design and development) *Dragon's Tooth Sword (a fictional weapon from the video game Deus Ex) DTSI'm curious about the reference to Star Wars: Episode I here, and I'm going to remove or edit the reference and leave it as such until someone can show proof that I'm wrong here. Episode I debuted with Dolby Digital EX, which has the neccesary "flag" built into the codec to activate the rear-center speaker, when avaliable, in a properly configured system (6.1 in home theater systems). The DTS equivalent is DTS ES, and although it works in essentially the same way as Dolby's EX codec, they are NOT interchangeable. I'm not aware of any films that were shown theatrically with DTS ES sound, although I know that the DVD releases of Fight Club and Seven both contain DD EX and DTS ES sound.
