The Village of Dobbs Ferry is located in the Political subdivisions of New York State#Town of Greenburgh, New York. == Geography == Dobbs Ferry is located at 41°0'46" North, 73°51'58" West (41.012729, -73.866026). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 8.2 square kilometer (3.2 square mile). 6.3 km² (2.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 23.03% water. Commuter service to New York City is available via the Dobbs Ferry, New York train station, served by Metro-North Railroad. == Demographics == As of the census of 2000, there are 10,622 people, 3,792 households, and 2,570 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,680.8/km² (4,350.0/mi²). There are 3,941 housing units at an average density of 623.6/km² (1,614.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 80.70% White (U.S. Census), 7.38% African American (U.S. Census), 0.08% Native American (U.S. Census), 7.56% Asian (U.S. Census), 0.09% Pacific Islander (U.S. Census), 1.93% from Race (U.S. Census), and 2.26% from two or more races. 7.00% of the population are Hispanic (U.S. Census) or Latino (U.S. Census) of any race. There are 3,792 households out of which 34.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.8% are Marriage living together, 10.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% are non-families. 27.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 3.13. In the village the population is spread out with 26.0% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.5 males. The median income for a household in the village is $70,333, and the median income for a family is $93,127. Males have a median income of $65,532 versus $50,091 for females. The per capita income for the village is $35,090. 5.6% of the population and 1.8% of families are below the poverty line.
