Doak Walker Award

The Doak Walker Award, first awarded in 1990, honors the nation's top college football running back. It is unique among college football awards in that it requires all candidates to be: * in good academic standing, and * on schedule to graduate within one year of students in their eligibility classification. ==Previous winners== {| border="1" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" !bgcolor="#e5e5e5"| Year !! bgcolor="#e5e5e5"| Player !! bgcolor="#e5e5e5"| School |- | 1990 || Greg Lewis || University of Washington |- | 1991 || Trevor Cobb || Rice University |- | 1992 || Garrison Hearst || University of Georgia |- | 1993 || Bam Morris || Texas Tech University |- | 1994 || Rashaan Salaam || University of Colorado at Boulder |- | 1995 || Eddie George || Ohio State University |- | 1996 || Byron Hanspard || Texas Tech University |- | 1997 || Ricky Williams || University of Texas at Austin |- | 1998 || Ricky Williams || University of Texas at Austin |- | 1999 || Ron Dayne || University of Wisconsin-Madison |- | 2000 || LaDainian Tomlinson || Texas Christian University |- | 2001 || Luke Staley || Brigham Young University |- | 2002 || Larry Johnson (football) || Pennsylvania State University |- | 2003 || Chris Perry (football player) || University of Michigan |- | 2004 || Cedric Benson || University of Texas at Austin |} American football trophies and awards College football awards
