==Wikipedia Translation== Interested in ''all'' wikipedia articles in ''all languages'' being available in a single International_auxiliary_language? Post ideas here: Example # I am not opposed to the ''creation'' of such a language (and associated software), for the job. # If such a language is to be created, perhaps we could use symbols from languages all over the world to create a ''new'' version of the International_Phonetic_Alphabet that is not western biased. # Along those lines, let's ''learn from'' Esperanto, but ''start fresh'' so as to not carry along the western bias. # For such a project to work, we would need collaborators in many different countries. # I say we keep the number of characters to a minimum. Even so, I see no reason why we couldn't have some degree of international representation... # If we're going to create a new international auxiliary language, it may as well serve a greater potential purpose than for wikipedia translation... Thus a sign language needs to be co-created. No ignoring other Disability either! Thus, a braile system and... what else? ==Modify the Welcome Message to ''Explain Itself''?== Below is what I first believed to have been an automated message from some welcoming committee (I think it would be good for such a message to have an explanation as to where it came from)(Update- also see "Response from SqueakBox" below what I now recognize a the standard welcome template): , User:SqueakBox 00:41, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC) Response from SqueakBox: Thanks for the feedback. It is just a way of saying welcome, and anyone can do it using the template, with handy tips for newcomers, who are spotted by their red talk pages, either through my watchlist, or doing a recent changes vandalism patrol, where all user names with red talk pages should have the edit checked as this is a good way of catching vandalisms. If the edit is sound I stick the templaste on, and people can write to my user page if they want help, User:SqueakBox 02:12, Jun 2, 2005 (UTC) ==Cultural appropriation== Hello, Djbaniel. How ya doin'? :) Thanks for stopping by my page to drop me a note and for getting cultural appropriation off to a really good, running start. I rewrote portions of it and, ''hopefully'' have improved it a bit. I added text relating to the power relationships between originating and exploiting cultures, as it is central to the meaning of the term. (After all, we don't speak of "cultural appropriation" when commenting on the wearing of Western dress by other cultures. :p) As an African-American whose culture has been pimped mercilessly and virtually universally, I share your viewpoint about people looking foolish and what not, but I had to rework that portion a bit. It's probably not as effective, but at least its NPOV (neutral point of view) -- Wiki policy 'n' all. I see you're relatively new to the project, so WELCOME! Peace 2 u. :D User:Deeceevoice 15:45, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC) Hey, early riser/night owl. :) Your suggestion sounds intriguing. While I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to contribute, though, from an "American perspective," I'd be more than pleased to contribute what I can from an ''African''-American perspective :p -- the two are quite different. I need a better sense, though, of what you have in mind. Drop me another note, and I'll ponder it over the weekend. Meanwhile, this night owl is off to bed to catch a few z-z-z-z-zzzz's. Forgot to mention that your comment about "trustlocks" in Dreadlocks made me chuckle. Hadn't heard that one. Peace. User:Deeceevoice 09:21, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC) ==AID project== On this week's Wikipedia:Article improvement drive voting, an article you supported was selected. This week we focus on improving Abortion to Wikipedia:Featured articles Wikipedia:What is a featured article. Hope you can help. -- User:The wub User_talk:The wub 12:50, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)
