Disciples of Annihilation#REDIRECT Disciples of annihilation Disciples of annihilationThe Disciples Of Annihilation are a group of musicians based in Brooklyn, New York. Their music might be classified as politically correct/politically incorrect, or PCPI. The music itself could be broadly described as hilarious, deadly serious, slightly intimidating computer-generated hard-core punk rock. The band describes its music as New York City Speedcore. Two points of musical comparison would be Dischord Records' Teen Idles, and mega-group Metallica. If one discounts the difference between suburban Minneapolis and Brooklyn New York, then one would find the band playing at the level of Hüsker Dü. And, strangely enough, the music sounds very much like disco music, albeit incredibly modernized to the extent that D.O.A. is an occasional play on techno and rave lists. The moral tone of the recorded product is very politically correct/politially incorrect. That said, the records are full of questionable content, much in the same way that Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather movies and Martin Scorcese's Mean Streets and Goodfellas are full of questionable content. Indeed, on New York City Speedcore, the band samples several scenes from Goodfellas. When one is listening to this record, one gets the impression that one has been transported back to the Little Italy neighborhood in Manhattan near Canal Street or to a similar neighborhood anywhere in the New York City area, sometime in the 1970s. D.O.A. could easily be seen as the stereotypical punk musician's reaction to adolescent existence in a city whose culture was dominated by the movie Saturday Night Fever and the famous 1970s discotheqes Club 54 and Xenon. Strangely enough for a punk musician, one of the members of the band pictured in the group photograph on the back of the cd cover of New York City Speedcore bears a striking resemblance to Brian Austin Green of Beverly Hills 90210. The band has worked with Jello Biafra, a musician and producer based in San Francisco California. ==Works== There are two cds available at most commercial underground music sites: * New York City Speedcore produced in 1997 on Earache Records MOSH 164 CD # Total Annihilation # Ya Mutha # Brooklyn Mob # NYC Speedcore # Wanna be a Gangster # Zu Leiten # Uncle Bill's Message (Part 1) # Pound down on your Brain # The Kill # Uncle Bill's Message (Part 69) # Minute Madness # Extreme Gangsta # Our Father # Ya Mutha (Part 3) # Noize Core # I'll Give You Hard # Ya Mutha (Part 2) # You're Dead # This is D.O.A.
