DeadJournalDeadJournal is a website which allows Internet users to maintain an online journal, or "blog." It was created by Frank Precissi in May 2001 using the open source code of LiveJournal, written mostly by Brad Fitzpatrick, and was the first other site to do so. It presents itself as a darker alternative to the world of LiveJournal, stating on its front page that it specifically wants the journals of angry and/or clinical depression people. 2005, 476,721 DeadJournals had been created, 15,097 of whom had updated in the last week (a rise of approximately 28,000 users over the past year, but with the same number of active users ). [http://www.deadjournal.com/stats.bml] While DeadJournal was created before the introduction of invite codes on LiveJournal, there was a time when these codes were required to create an account on LiveJournal, but not DeadJournal, which led to DeadJournal being seen as a "more free" alternative. This is no longer the case, however, with the situation having reversed. Now, DeadJournal requires a new user desiring journal space to have an invite code from an existing user or to pay for an account, whereas this requirement has been removed from LiveJournal. ==See also== *List of websites ==External link== *[http://www.deadjournal.com/ DeadJournal] Websites running the LiveJournal engine Weblog sites Deadjournal#REDIRECT DeadJournal See other meanings of words starting from letter: DDA | DB | DC | DE | DF | DG | DH | DI | DJ | DK | DL | DM | DN | DO | DP | DR | DS | DT | DU | DW | DX | DY | DZ |Words begining with Deadjournal: DeadJournal Deadjournal
