I thought that I'd just mention that the Wikipedia:Manual of style says: :“When punctuating quoted passages, include the mark of punctuation inside the quotation marks only if the sense of the mark of punctuation is part of the quotation. This is the style used in Australia, New Zealand, and Britain, for example. (A fuller treatment of the recommendations given here can be found in Fowler's Modern English Usage and other style guides for these countries, some of which vary in fine details.) For example, "Stop!" has the punctuation inside the quotation marks because the word "stop" is said with emphasis. However, when using "scare quotes", the comma goes outside.” I'm lucky, I suppose, because this is how I've always done it anyway; it's the way that I was taught, it was in the first proof-reading manuals I read, and it just looks better to me. The guide doesn't insist that everyone uses this style when writing articles, but it does say that in principle all articles should be edited to conform to the same style. What this means is that another editor is likely at some point to revert all your painstakingly made edits (as here). The best advice is: #don't make edits purely for the purpose of changing style unless and until you've read the Manual of Style; #add your own material using the style already used in the article (but see 1); #start your own articles in any style you like, but be prepared for someone to change it in line with the Manual. I'd only add that I speak with the authority of one who made the same sort of mistakes when I began editing. Have fun! When he returns odds are some admin will block him. User:578 User_talk:578 19:53, 14 Mar 2005 (UTC) ==Thanks!== I appreciate the revert. User:MPLX 18:40, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC) ==Amazon spammer== The plot thickens!! See User:Mr. Treasure Trove (which I created so that there weren't parallel discussions going on at the help desk, vandalism in progress, and IP talk pages) and see what you think. Perhaps I'm just being paranoid about this guy but he angered me just slightly with his attempts to make money out of spamming Wikipedia under the guise of providing helpful links, and now I find he's a bigtime scam-merchant! On a totally unconnected and non-serious note, do you mind if I ask what you've got against Nauru and the 3rd amendment? I agree with most of the rest of your biases and death predictions so I was just curious about those. — User:Trilobite User_talk:Trilobite 03:51, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC) :It's all very strange. I'm slightly fascinated by all this now. I suppose the author of the pages could be a derranged fan, but I think it's really him. Presumably he has to sell quite a few copies of his book to recoup the costs of publishing it himself, so he is going all out to promote it everywhere he can. His vanity article would suggest that he really is one weird dude. I half feel like emailing Pfizer ("search your offices, and if you find Britney Spears posters you've nailed him!"). :Your user page is pretty funny and I think unlikely to offend anyone. It amused me because some of the things had occurred to me before, like the uselessness of beryllium, and what a fun time Michael Jackson is going to have in jail. Anyway, I'm kind of hoping now that Mr Treasure Trove checks back and goes psycho and posts death threats all over my user page, but we'll see.... — User:Trilobite User_talk:Trilobite 05:42, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC) See other meanings of words starting from letter: DDA | DB | DC | DE | DF | DG | DH | DI | DJ | DK | DL | DM | DN | DO | DP | DR | DS | DT | DU | DW | DX | DY | DZ |Words begining with Deadcorpse: Deadcorpse Deadcorpse
