DbachHello and Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers to Wikipedia! Here are some tips to help you get started: * If you haven't already, please add your name to the Wikipedia:New user log to let others know a little about yourself. * Read the Wikipedia:Tutorial, and feel free to experiment in the Wikipedia:Sandbox. * Eventually, you might want to read the Wikipedia:Manual of Style and Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. * If you need Wikipedia:Help, post a question at the Wikipedia:Help desk or ask me on User talk:jrdioko. * Explore, Wikipedia:Be bold in updating pages, and, most importantly, have fun! Good luck! User:Jrdioko P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on Wikipedia:Tutorial (Talk pages), for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes). ---- ==Doctors== Hi DBach, I should have noticed before that you're a doctor! Would you join the local staff at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Clinical medicine? There's also a Wikipedia:WikiProject Psychopathology, but I'd rather lure you away from there, because you seem to know a lot about somatic medicine as well. Then there's Wikipedia:WikiProject Drugs, which is presently being populated and which attempts to knock the pharmacotherapeutical side of this project into shape. User:Jfdwolff | User_talk:Jfdwolff 15:29, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC) :''What has to be done''? Well, some neurology pages have been written up nicely, but others contain lay vocabulary and lack recent research. Ophthalmology pages (probably not your immediate interest) are largely the product of spammers who wanted to advertise their LASIK clinics, and could really do with work. :Otherwise, irritable bowel syndrome is still a bit messy, and could benefit from an approach that we've followed on many other medicine articles (see e.g. angiodysplasia). User:Jfdwolff | User_talk:Jfdwolff 18:50, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC) ==IBS Discussion== I agree that you don't want to scare people by suggesting that they might have something worse than what they really have. In my case, I would be overjoyed if I learned that my problem was celiac disease, because at least then I could do something about the problem. Since my physician can't give me any answers I am left to wondering and trying to figure it out for myself. Sorry I took out my frustration on you. User:H2O 21:11, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC) ==Loperamide== On a different note -- here is a puzzle for you -- about 10 years ago I was in Honduras for a couple of weeks and got diarrhea. I took a standard dose of loperamide and afterward experienced mild disorientation and hallucinations. For this reason I have never taken this drug again. Now I am reading that this drug cannot pass the blood-brain barrier. Do you have an explanation for this? Just curious. User:H2O 21:54, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC) * Thanks for the response. I had heard of leaky gut, thought there might be such a thing as leaky brain. That would explain a lot. Take care. User:H2O 19:42, 5 Jul 2004 (UTC) ==IBS== Impressed by the IBS page. Very good work has been done there. I am not very good at neurogastroenterology, so I trust your insights. User:Jfdwolff | User_talk:Jfdwolff 10:39, 8 Aug 2004 (UTC) == Old revisions deleted == As a developer I've removed the versions of your user page wich contained your name. If you want the remaining revisions deleted any admin can take care of it (unless you're unlucky and the early one happens to be caught up in another compression run, in which case, please ask me on my talk page and I'll take care of removing it). User:Jamesday 04:21, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC) :Are there still any of your user pages that need to be deleted? Let me know if you need assistance with that.
