Good luck! User:Meelar_User_talk:Meelar">User:Meelar|User:Meelar User talk:Meelar 18:37, Nov 29, 2004 (UTC) ==TARS== Jibbooms and bobstays, of course I am aware of TARS, and have read/participated on Tarboard for many years. One of the greatest pleasures of my life was watching my wife read S&A for the first time to my adult to my kids, hearing it for the first time as children, simultaneoulsy recalling my mom reading it to me as a kid and re-hearing it as an adult. A multifaceted experience. - User:DavidWBrooks 15:09, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC) ==PORTLANDS ENERGY CENTRE== not sure where else to direct this, so here goes. Why are you trying to delete a work in progress? I don't mind if you point out that it's not quite neutral POV just yet, but why try to delete it? == Re: Liar accusation == I'm sorry about accusing you of lying; not knowing any better, it did sound a bit suspicious. By the way, I did not mean for it to be anonymous, about the cowardly thing. I simply forgot to sign my name. I'm new to the talk pages, so I often do that. Sorry. User:Matjlav 19:51, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC) ==Irish Guards== Sorry about that. I didn't noticed the addititons made. If only I had chosen to go to sleep, then my absent mindedness wouldn't have happen lol. The reason I moved that, for the most part, when links are made to the Irish Guards, its just to the Irish Guards, not adding 1900 or 1939. Plus, Wikipedia:Article size appears to of changed its stance on articles being split up once they exceed 32kb. Anyway, again, sorry about that! User:SoLando 02:39, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC) == Recent Talk:Creationism discussion == I've really enjoyed reading your take on things in the recent Talk:Creationism discussion. I find myself drawn to the inherent wisdom of your stated views (by which I guess I mean, I admire the way they sound similar to things I'd say myself), while sighing at the desire of more-zealous types to drag things into an advocacy proceeding. Being kind of a newcomer around here, I wonder if you might have any suggestions for how I could more effectively get the aforementioned more-zealous types to refrain from letting their debate spill over into POV statements in the article page. Thanks. User:John Callender 21:32, 31 May 2005 (UTC) == Horblower vs. M&C == I noticed your stated interest in the Royal Navy from the early 1800s, and wanted to ask what you think of the Aubrey-Maturin novels vs. Forrester's Hornblower novels. I read the latter years ago, and really enjoy them, but although a friend encouraged me to read Patrick O'Brian, and I tried (briefly) to get started on the first novel in that series, I never really gave it a chance. Anyway, on the off chance you were familiar with both, I was curious what your opinion of their relative quality was. Thanks in advance for any insights. User:John Callender 19:47, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Anglo-Irish == I just wanted to say thanks for your posting on the discussion page for Oscar Wilde about the use of the term Anglo-Irish. It puts the case eloquently for keeping the term on his page. Unfortunately those who change it may never read the discussion page so I'll try to help in keeping an eye on this page. The last person to change it seems to have gone to several pages changing entries, in both directions, about this subject. I have done some research into Oscar's visit to Colorado in 1882. If you are interested, and if you are ever here I would be happy to chauffer you to the sites he was at. Feel free to email me anytime. Thanks again.User:MarnetteD | User_talk:MarnetteD 17:47, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC) :Thanks for your note. Oscar visited the US twice. He arrived the first time in Jan. of 1882. Unfortunately most scholars seem to think his "Genius" line is something he added later to his story. He was so good at embellishing things that he had lived through. Two of his four letters that exist about his visit to Leadville keep elevating its elevation. This visit lasted almost a full year and included huge parts of the eastern, central and southern states. California, Utah and Colorado were the only places he spoke in the western states. He also spoke in parts of Canada. When I read just how much on the go he was I think he must have done most of sleeping on the train. :The second visit happened in August and Sept. of 1883, and dealt mostly with a staging of his play "Vera". It was not a success and he returned to England and would soon marry. :Have you ever met your distant relation Merlin Holland? I am happy to leave messages here but if you feel that this is cluttering up your talk page feel free to use the 'email this user' function to contact me as I am happy to pass on any of the things I've learned in my research - no matter how inaccurate.User:MarnetteD | User_talk:MarnetteD 20:09, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Thanks for the fixes! == I often forget the ''h'' in the ''wh''-words without noticing. Thanks for fixing that! User:Gerbrant 22:35, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC) == Palestine == Thanks for your comments about the Palestine disambiguations. Contrary to your generous supposition, the robot does not decide which link to substitute; it merely presents a list of options from which I select. (By the way, I hope you did not literally mean that I selected the wrong link "every" time, since I have made over 1,000 edits to Palestine links!) I did try to have a consistent approach to this process. Generally, when an article refers to "Palestine" in reference to events before 1948, it was easy to use the Palestine (region) link. However, when a reference is made -- as in the Sidney Smith (admiral) article you revised -- to a geographic area that includes "modern Israel and Palestine", I assume the reference is to the Palestinian territories, as distinct from the portion of historic Palestine that now constitutes Israel. As for the edit you made to Anglo-Iraqi War, I tried to use the British Mandate of Palestine link only when an article was referring to the government of the area, not referring to it in a geographic sense. I take no offense at the fact that you disagree with my approach to these issues, as that is how WikiCollaboration is supposed to work. I just wanted to point out that there is a method to my madness, but I do appreciate your feedback. User:RussBlau User_talk:RussBlau 14:27, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)
