DSCHDSCH is a Motif (music) used by the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich to represent himself, in the manner of the BACH motif of Johann Sebastian Bach. It consists of the notes D-E flat-C-B, D-Es-C-H in German Musical_notation, standing for his initials (Д. Ш.) in German spelling (D. Sch.). The motif occurs in many of his works including the Symphony No. 10 (Shostakovich), the String_Quartet_No._8_(Shostakovich), the Violin Concerto No. 1 (Shostakovich), the Cello Concerto No. 1 (Shostakovich) and the Opus 60 Piano Sonata No. 2 (Shostakovich). ''DSCH Journal'', the standard journal of Shostakovich studies takes its name from the motif, and "DSCH" is sometimes used as an abbreviation of the composer's name. ==External link== *[http://www.dschjournal.com/ The DSCH journal] Melodic sections See other meanings of words starting from letter: DDA | DB | DC | DE | DF | DG | DH | DI | DJ | DK | DL | DM | DN | DO | DP | DR | DS | DT | DU | DW | DX | DY | DZ |Words begining with DSCH: DSCH Dschen Dschinghis_Khan Dschinghis_Khan Dschinghis_Khan_Family Dschiu_Dschitsu Dschmelzer Dschmelzer Dscho Dscho Dschubba Dschwen Dschwen Dschwen/Works_in_progress
