The first surname is by far the most common when used to referring to a person. Daniel Ortega is nearly always just referred to as Daniel Ortega. A notable exception is Pablo Picasso. ===Portuguese Names=== The surname system in Portuguese language speaking countries is the exact opposite of the Spanish system!
