The Romania's DN1 road links Bucharest with the north-west part of the country. On the section Bucharest - Ploiesti traffic jams appear very often due to the fact that DN1 serves the Bucharest 's airports Henri Coanda Airport, Bucharest (Otopeni) and Baneasa and the touristic region Valea Prahovei (Prahova Valley). The segment of DN1 that serves Bucharest north area is currently being upgrated; at the end of 2005 the road will have three lanes on every sense and two new traffic knots at Henri Coanda Airport, Bucharest and Otopeni bridge.
