Produced by ''Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug'' (Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug - German Institute for Sailplane Flight) with Hans Jacobs as the head designer. The glider was the German equivalent of the Britain Airspeed Horsa glider and was intended for paratrooper assault operations.
