Cuervo== NAME == Hiya. Name's Jack. I'm here because any time someone posts a Wikipedia link, I invariably get sucked in for hours on end. Wikipedia is a really Good Thing, and I figured that since I'm spending so much time here, anyway, I may as well help it out where I can. I'm still getting the hang of things around here, so if I do something wrong or otherwise unacceptable, please let me know, and I'll do what I can to make it right. == SYNOPSIS == Just add alcohol. == DESCRIPTION == I've been running Linux since Red Hat 4.0, and played with FreeBSD -- also, interestingly enough -- since around 4.0. That laptop up there in that picture is actually an IBM Thinkpad A20m running Slackware (though you probably wouldn't have recognized it as Slackware (it now happily runs Debian, after a hard drive crash)). I speak Perl, C, awk/sed, bash, and some Tcl and Javascript, and I've worked with Linux, FreeBSD, cut my teeth on SunOS 4.1.3 and Solaris (at 2400 bps on a dumb terminal, even!), and hacked around on AIX and HP-UX systems. ...Man, this is starting to read like a resume. === Notable Projects === ==== Linux-Laptops ==== For a while, I was the maintainer of the [http://www.linux-on-laptops.com/ Linux-Laptops] site for the Sharp PC-MM10. Apparently, I was one of the first to get Linux running happily on it, with Emperor Linux possibly beating me to it. With loss of connectivity around Feb 2004, and a long delay getting it back, the primary Linux MM10 site has since passed to [http://web.mit.edu/jjl/www/mm10/ John Lee]. In case you're not familiar with it, Linux-Laptops basically maintains an index of sites that describe how to get Linux running on various brands and models of laptops and links directly to them. In other words: I am not affiliated with the Linux-Laptops site. ==== FOLDOC ==== I made a minor typo correction and submitted it to the FOLDOC maintainer. For some reason, my name then showed up in the list of contributors. I didn't really earn it, but it still sounds cool to say "I contributed to FOLDOC". :-) If you're wondering, I believe I corrected "markeroid" to "marketroid". I don't remember the article it was in. == AUTHOR == Email is [mailto:cuervo+wp@zerokarma.homeunix.org], or z0karma on AIM. Both eventually reach my cell phone, so they're reasonably quick ways of getting in touch with me. If I'm at the console, I can be reached as cuervo!cuervo@*.irvnca.pacbell.net on EFnet. == URL == If you were looking for anything interesting beyond that, it probably lives on [http://www.datanorth.net/~cuervo/ my own site] (formerly [http://zerokarma.homeunix.org/~cuervo/ here]). It's not nearly as useful or neat as Wikipedia, but at least it's not (usually) Goatse. Portions of it may, however, be NSFW. In particular, you may wish to avoid the "links" page while your boss is around, since any Luser may add links to it. == KNOWN BUGS == This userpage is too long. == SEE ALSO == *http://www.datanorth.net/~cuervo/ :Current homepage. *http://zerokarma.homeunix.org/~cuervo/ :Alternate; currently nonfunctional. *Unix_manual :Why this userpage looks like it does.
