CovasnaCovasna (Hungarian: Kovászna, German: Kowasna) is a town in Covasna (county) county, Transylvania, Romania, at an altitude of 550-600 m. It is known as "town of 1,000 mineral springs". It is an important watering place. Covasna's name is derived from the Slavic word ''Cvaz'', meaning sour, referring to the taste of its mineral waters. As of 2004, a recent census shows 11,204 inhabitants.
