''Cosby'' was a popular American situation comedy television series broadcast on CBS from 1996 to 2000. The eponymous star of the series was Bill Cosby, who played Hilton Lucas, a man forced into early (and unwanted) retirement. His wife, Ruth, was played by Phylicia Rashad, who had also starred with Cosby in the epochial 1980s sitcom, ''The Cosby Show''. The show itself was based on the concept from the BBC series ''One Foot in the Grave'', starring Richard Wilson. David Renwick was listed as executive producer on both shows.
